Revision
Made from the TAN reprint's digital text (Internet Archive TheSecretOfTheRosaryGrignionDeMontfortSt.Loui6364_201810), the only open copy of Barbour's whole translation; the 1954 printings on Internet Archive are lending-only. The nine Roses in Darrell Wright's selections from the 1954 printing (Internet Archive TheSecretOfTheRosarySelections) were collated word by word against it (5,634 words; one ebook error corrected, "be confirmed" for "he confirmed"). The whole text was collated against the later revised Montfort translation to find lost passages (none), and proofread in full, with a dictionary sweep, a paragraph-end sweep and a quotation sweep; six ebook slips are corrected, each listed in the build's fixups.json. The opening words of each section, set in capitals in the print, are set in ordinary case, and the book's title in the preface in italics. The scripture citations the print gives in parentheses link to the verse.

Public-domain basis
First published in the United States in 1954 (Montfort Publications, Bay Shore, N.Y.). No registration was found in the Catalog of Copyright Entries for 1954-55 and no renewal in the Copyright Office renewal records for 1950-2001, which cover the 1981-82 window for the 1954 edition and the 1992-93 window for the 1965 edition, so the translation is in the public domain in the United States by non-renewal. Built by founder ruling of 2026-10-12, which accepts the residual risk that the 1954 copyright page was not read (lending-only scans). Dossier docs/sourcing/rights-montfort-secret-of-the-rosary.md. The French original, unpublished in the Saint's lifetime and first printed about 1911, is also in the public domain.
Edition
First English edition, Bay Shore, N.Y., Montfort Publications. Nihil obstat Gulielmus F. Hughes, S.T.L., Censor Librorum; Imprimatur Thomas Edmundus Molloy, S.T.D., Archiepiscopus-Episcopus Brooklyniensis, Brooklyn, 16 July 1954. The text is taken from the TAN Books reprint of this edition (37th printing, June 2013), as an ebook.
