Euthymius Zigabenus was a Byzantine monk and theologian active in Constantinople, probably at the monastery of the Peribleptos. He wrote commentaries on the Psalms and Gospels and compiled the Panoplia Dogmatica, a collection of patristic arguments against heresies. His Gospel interpretation frequently summarizes earlier Greek exegetes in a concise form. Aquinas used material attributed to Euthymius when assembling the Greek side of the Catena Aurea.
